Funerals

A person with hands clasped in prayer rests them on a closed Holy Bible placed on a wooden table, with light focused on the book and hands.

We offer our deepest sympathy and support to all who are grieving the loss of a loved one. At St Mary’s, Harrington, and the Church of the Holy Spirit, Distington, we understand how difficult this time can be, and we are here to accompany you as you face the challenges ahead. We work closely with local Funeral Directors to ensure that every funeral is a fitting tribute, reflecting the life, love, and memories of the person you hold dear.

Many people like to have a church service before or after a cremation and we are happy to conduct a service for everyone, whether or not they were a church goer. The churches at Harrington and Distington both have churchyards open for burials, and burial of ashes.

If you are planning a funeral, the Rector will meet with you to help shape the service and provide pastoral care, guidance, and a listening ear. We also recognise that grief does not end with the funeral. We are here to support you in the days, months, and years that follow, and we can arrange a memorial service at a later date if that would be helpful for you and your family.

For support or to begin making arrangements, please contact Rev Dom de Mattos on 01946 830215 or email rector@harringtonanddistington.org
